I came across this and it just has to go on the 'To keep an eye on' list. Such beautiful combination of colors. The SSC717P1 uses the Seiko Calibre V716, which is a solar charging quartz movement. Featuring Lumibrite on the hand and indexes.
Apparently the SSC717P1 also comes with Hard Coating applied to its stainless steel case. I saw this watch in person, it is a gorgeous watch - the photos don't do it justice.
If you would like to buy this watch you can click here.

B.U.M Equipment USA Watch
A very, very well used, scratched up stainless steel B.U.M Equipment watch on bracelet that I saw at a friend's place. It was night, and hence poor lighting conditions and poor cellphone photographs.

Oh, my. Orient AP0003S 'Bambino Small Seconds'
Pictures say a thousand words. *Drool*
Get your Bambino Small Seconds here (Black dial) | Silver Dial | Rose Gold | Cream dial
The Orient 'Bambino Small Seconds. With the new Orient Cal. F6222. features hacking and handwinding. As its name implies, it has a small seconds hand on the dial at 6 o'clock. This is also the first watch where it doesn't say "Water Resist" on the dial. Good call!

This is my favorite watch so far this few months..
The Wingman with the tan leather strap is my favorite watch these months so far. I'm not kidding - the dial is easy to read from 5 miles away, the military-style PVD looks business, and it works. It's not the most expensive watch of the bunch, but it just works. Even with the poor lume, in low light conditions it was still easy to tell time from the big, contrast numbers. imagine this watch if Orient had actually put some decent lume in it! The leather strap is tan on the outside, but dark brown, almost black on the inside - which compliments the watch itself really well. This saw the most wrist time among the rest.

Seiko 5 SNKK71
![]() |
| Stock photo |
Yes, just joined to the Seiko camp by buying one, brand new. I got a SNKK71 for myself recently because I am bitten by the watch bug. The Seiko 5 series has the 7s26 movement with 21 Jewels, which is a very affordable and reliable workhorse movement. The SNKK71 has a black satin finished dial, and raised indices which are actually very beautiful and not captured by the pictures on the internet.
The caseback is hardlex and allows anyone to look into the 7S26 - which is nice, because this is the first time I owned a watch with a transparent caseback. And actually, even if they say it isn't decorated, the movement is finished in such a way that it still has some nice shiny bits to look at and admire.
I did not bother to get the bracelet adjusted, and immediately removed the bracelet and fit it with a leather strap as shown in my very poorly taken photo (sorry, this was taken at night, with room lighting:

Orient 'Charlene' CNR1Q004W
Orient 'Charlene' CNR1Q004W Women's watch for my wife.
The surprising thing is, this feels like it has manual winding! Well it wasn't listed in the specs, but it does have the tactile feel of a winding watch when you turn the crown! I'm unable to verify this as the watch was already wound up and ticking. Will have to wait till it winds down and try out the winding to see if it is real; I would be really surprised if this is true.
*EDIT* Just used this thing called internet search engine, found that it does indeed have manual winding. See here.
You can buy one here.

Found more cheap watches - Wilon
...to be given as gifts to friends & family without watches.. Here's another Wilon.
There's really nothing much to say about this really. It's a cheap Quartz watch, rectangular case, with clip-on caseback, folded links.
But it's nice enough as a dress watch and simple enough to tell the time. Happy to report that the person who received this is very happy with the gift and a proud wearer.

Rossi Valentino Ladies' Rolex-style Watch
Rossi Valentino Rolex-style ladies' watch.
I've heard of this name before but it was in the form of a professional motorcycle racer (it was actually flipped around - Valentino Rossi)... but this is the first time I heard of this name as a watch brand. Regardless, it features a Quartz, 3 ATM water resistance, with a Rolex-styled stainless steel case, and has a sapphire crystal with magnifying bubble over the date.
Quite nice, for its price.

Cheap Watches on Clearance
I bought some watches from a shop near my office that is going on clearance. How cheap you ask? Well, dirt cheap.. like, for the price of a battery. So I bought 4.
These are "Stainless Steel" watches, with "Water Resistant" rating (and no more than that), with folded metal links (that threatened to go out of alignment when I tried to adjust it) and I suspect it is painted-on chrome, though I can't be sure.
Construction
As mentioned, construction on the bracelets are very poor, which is expected. But who cares if you swap them out to straps, right? The watches themselves have (apparently) Japanese Quartz movements, they - well - they work. Being quartz watches. And at first glance, they actually look quite decent. This works well for people who just want decent watches.
The amazing thing about it is that a very low clearance price, it makes it totally worthwhile to get them as gifts to be given away.
And here they are, in its generic-brand-name-cheap glory! (Sorry for the crappy smartphone photos.)

Victorinox Swiss Army (Prudential)
A long overdue post. I had this picture of this watch from my friend's collection but simply never gotten around to post it. This is a Victorinox Swiss Army quartz with black leather strap:

"Hegner" Watch 30M Water Resist
Here's a "Hegner" Quartz 30M Water Resist watch I happened to come across and took this with my cellphone. Unfortunately the case back pictures are too blur (this was taken with indoor flourescent lighting at night) so we only have the front shots unfortunately.
Never heard of "Hegner", but I suspect it's just one of those generic Chinese watches.

Alba Quartz for the Missus ( VX82-X406)
Just bought an Alba Quartz for the missus. She wanted a new watch, with bracelet "this time". I got her the Alba with black dial with gems, solid-link bracelet(!). Overall fairly high quality piece for the price.
I originally wanted to get her an automatic Orient. But I was not able to get any within a limited time, but on top of that, after some thought there's this issue with her not wearing the automatic watch all the time, which might cause it to wind down and stop, and she might think it's a hassle to set it after that. So a quartz it is.
